In light of the growing concern over the spread of COVID-19, we have decided that now is not the best time to bring 800 of our closest friends together for soup and conversation. We will not be hosting our 11th Annual Empty Bowls event next Thursday, March 19th. While we are sad to miss one of our favorite gatherings of the year, we feel it is a responsible decision.
Even though we can’t be together to share a meal at this time, we hope you will still consider supporting our work and your neighbors in need. Not hosting Empty Bowls will leave us missing more than your presence and your energy, it also leaves us missing $30,000 in much needed support. If you are able, please consider making a gift today to help us close that gap and continue making healthy food a reality.
We are currently focusing all our efforts on ensuring the continuity of our work. Our team is taking steps to modify our operations to ensure we continue to provide fresh and healthy foods, while protecting the health of our clients, volunteers, and staff.
The Open Door works with our county’s most vulnerable people. The clients we serve will be significantly impacted by the economic realities of this crisis. Our top priority is to work to make sure food continues to be available to those in need. We will remain flexible and adaptive.
Throughout our operations we are shifting service delivery to minimize interpersonal interactions while still honoring dignity and health. We are in discussions with our hunger-relief partners, retail partners, and school districts regarding contingency planning and creative solutions.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity.Donate Now
