Get energized for the MN FoodShare’s March campaign and help re-stock our shelves in 2022!
Since March 2020 you have helped us transform our organization and allowed us to respond to the pandemic-spurred hunger crisis. You have enabled us to double the number of people we helped last year by making 2.7 million pounds of fresh and healthy food accessible to thousands experiencing hunger in Dakota County each month. While we are overwhelmed with gratitude, the need continues.
People in need of food support in Dakota County is at an all-time high. More than one out of three Minnesotans struggle to pay their bills every month, and we have seen dramatic increases in the number of first time visitors. Last year we welcomed more than 31,000 first-time visitors to our food shelf, and we are still serving an average of 14,000 people each month – double the number of people served monthly prior to the pandemic. We know that low-wage earners and families with young children have been hit the hardest during the pandemic. More than half the clients we served last year were children.
