Are You in Need of Food Support?

Making the first call to a food shelf can be a humbling experience. Please know that we are here to help you and your family. The volunteers and staff of The Open Door promise you a dignified and respectful experience. No family should feel hunger. Give us a call today at 651-686-0787!

To Make a Food Appointment

Call the appointment line for Eagan or The Mobile Pantry®. When you come for your first appointment, a volunteer will meet with you to gather some information and explain our process. Do you need assistance connecting with other community agencies? We can help you. We recommend, but do not require individuals to bring their drivers license or other form of identification.

Am I eligible?
Anyone living in Dakota County is eligible to become a client of The Open Door. There are no income or citizenship requirements. In compliance with federal food bank policies, The Open Door must ask clients to self-report annual income. Nobody is turned away based on income.
What should I bring?
At your first appointment, we recommend (but don’t require) that you bring a picture ID or mail with your current address. This helps get you set up in our client appointment system faster. We also encourage clients to bring their own bags to pack food items, if possible.
What to expect at appointment?
At your food appointment, a friendly shopper will guide you as you choose your family’s food. We value wholesome, nutritious foods, offering milk, eggs, dairy, meat, fish, breads, fruits and vegetables when available, along with non-perishables. If you prefer to provide a shopping list and have your order packed and ready when you arrive, let us know when you’re making your appointment that you would like to use our Curbside service. Complete the form prior to your appointment. Curbside Order Form
How often can I receive food?
Appointments may be made once a month. In addition to monthly appointments, you’re also welcome to receive food at our Pop Up Produce distributions, visit one of our Mobile Lunchbox locations for your children, and to apply for your own garden plot.
What if I don’t speak English?
The Open Door has a language translation service that allows us to communicate with our clients in any language. Let us know what language you need, and we’ll make it happen.
Any changes to the process?
– Masks are optional for those who are vaccinated – All services have returned to pre-covid processes – Eagan Pantry no longer has a minimum number of days between appointments. Instead you can choose the dates each month that are most convenient for you.
