The Open Door celebrated the participants in our Leadership Table program at an event held last week at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Our Leadership Table members have been meeting biweekly over the past several months to develop their skills as public speakers and anti-hunger advocates, and this event was an opportunity for them to share their speeches with the larger Open Door community.
Speech topics included ‘Mobile Food Shelves: Help Around the Corner’ and ‘Surviving and Thriving on a Limited Income’ to ‘Are We Asking the Right Questions’ and challenged the audience to widen their perceptions of hunger in the suburbs.
Here at The Open Door, we are extremely proud of the participants in this program. They have come together to develop their storytelling skills, and have generously shared their experiences with us as we work together to draw attention to the presence and complexity of hunger in Dakota County.
