Volunteers ARE The Open Door
Every week, nearly 200 volunteers help keep The Open Door’s hunger relief operations running. Open Door volunteers help with everything from answering phones and scheduling appointments to stocking shelves and distributing food at senior living facilities.
There is a spot for everyone to volunteer at The Open Door. Find the best fit for you, your group, or your business below!

Volunteer Impact at The Open Door
The impact TOD volunteers make is endless! See some stats below from 2023. We couldn’t complete our mission without our volunteer corps!!
How to Volunteer at The Open DoorÂ
There are multiple ways to volunteer at The Open Door. Below are just a few examples. If you have a specific volunteer idea in mind, or want to learn even more, please reach out!
Individual Volunteering
Whether it’s onsite to help in the Eagan Pantry and Warehouse or offsite at a Mobile Pantry food distribution, volunteering as an individual is one of our most popular options.
Even if you sign up as an individual, you are working on our volunteer team. It is a great way to connect with an organization, meet new people AND give back.
Examples of Individual Volunteer Roles
Group Volunteering
This is a great option for businesses and organizations to volunteer and give back together. It’s great team building and a great give back activity for families or friends, especially around the holiday season!
Groups are incredible help with morning food sorting in the warehouse, at offsite Mobile Pantry food distributions, and in The Open Door’s gardens (a seasonal option) assisting with general upkeep, composting, and more!
