The suburbs lead the state in the number of missed meals during the summer, the greatest opportunity to fight hunger is helping deliver meals to students during those months! With your help, our goal is to deliver 30,000 meals directly into neighborhoods where they are needed most!
This summer, The Open Door’s Mobile Lunchbox program is expanding into School District 197, adding 11 additional neighborhoods! Staff and volunteers will be delivering fresh and healthy food 5 days a week in 26 neighborhoods across four Dakota County School Districts! With your help, we will make this our best summet yet!
We need 12 volunteers each day, Monday through Friday beginning June 14th till August 30th. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old or 16+ if volunteering with a parent/guardian. Sign up for one shift, or pick a recurring shift once a week! Like all volunteer opportunities at The Open Door, we’ll be flexible and work with your schedule.
Must be able to:
- committ to a 3 hour shift
- work in pairs
- lift at least 30 pounds
Help provide snacks for students!
We are looking for groups or ambitious individuals to make snack packs for our volunteers to give to students each week! This is a great opportunity for faith groups, work groups, friend groups, scouts, or stay-at-home summer project!
